Recently, the Phase I project of the Chongqing Port Main City Port Area Luoqi Operation Area (hereinafter referred to as Luoqi Port) in Luoqi Town, Yubei District, broke ground. The project covers 1,301 mu, with an investment of about 3.2 billion yuan. It is planned to complete five berths and supporting facilities such as access roads to the port by 2025, achieving a cargo throughput capacity of 16.55 million tons.

The Luoqi Port project is implemented in three phases, with a total investment of about 15 billion yuan. It is designed with 15 berths of 5,000-ton class and an annual throughput capacity of 35 million tons. Relying mainly on the Yangtze River golden waterway and the well-developed railway and highway networks, it will be built into the main transport port for mineral and construction materials in the main urban area that "serves the main city, supports Liangjiang, and radiates to surrounding areas," as well as the largest domestic-trade port in the main urban area featuring multimodal transport by rail, road, and water. The project will be completed in 2035. Once completed, it will directly serve and radiate to Chongqing's central urban area, providing important logistics support facilities for the development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt, the construction of the Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle, and the building of the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor in the western region.

A relevant official from Yubei District stated that all relevant departments will continue to coordinate and cooperate to jointly serve, manage, and safeguard the project well, and provide a high-quality and efficient development environment for the construction and operation of Luoqi Port; they will urge the project's social investors and project company to strictly fulfill the project agreement, implement both hardware and software elements, ensure the quality, safety, and progress of project construction, and lay a solid foundation for the port's future operations and development.
