On December 26-27, the announcements of the winning candidates for the construction lump-sum contracts of the pre-station works of the Linyi section and the Weifang-Rizhao section of the newly built Weifang-Suqian high-speed railway were successively released.

Previously, the winning bid announcements for the Jiangsu section and the Qingdao connecting line had already been released. The entire Weifang-Suqian high-speed railway line is confirmed to officially start construction in early January and is scheduled for completion by the end of June 2028.

The feasibility study report for the newly built Weifang-Suqian high-speed railway (including the Qingdao connecting line) was approved by the National Development and Reform Commission on May 24 this year, and the preliminary design and construction drawings were approved by China Railway Group on December 1 and December 3 respectively, setting a record speed for a railway project to be approved and become ready for construction within the same year.

The Weifang-Suqian high-speed railway is the last unstarted section of the Beijing-Shanghai Second Corridor (i.e., the "Beijing-Shanghai Auxiliary Corridor") of the national "Eight Vertical and Eight Horizontal" high-speed railway corridors, a construction project in the national "14th Five-Year Plan" railway development plan, and together with the already-started Hefei-Xinxi high-speed railway and the soon-to-start Hefei-Wuhan high-speed railway, will form a major high-speed railway corridor from Qingdao to Hefei and Wuhan.

The total project investment is approximately 97.82 billion yuan (75.147 billion yuan for the Weifang-Suqian high-speed railway and 22.669 billion yuan for the Qingdao connecting line), with a design speed target of 350 km/h and a planned total construction period of 4.5 years.

The entire project is divided into 3 sections for bidding according to different construction management units, namely the Weifang-Rizhao section (Xiong'an High-Speed Railway Company), the Linyi section (Jinan Railway Bureau), and the Jiangsu section (Shanghai Railway Bureau); in addition, the synchronously constructed Qingdao connecting line is the responsibility of the Ji-Qing High-Speed Railway Company.

The pre-station works of the entire line (including the Qingdao connecting line) are divided into 17 bid sections, with a total winning bid amount of approximately 48 billion yuan, making it the largest newly built railway project to start construction within the year. The bidding information for the Shandong section is as follows:

1. Project Overview

The Weifang-Suqian high-speed railway starts from Weifang North Station of the Ji-Qing high-speed railway, passes through Anqiu City and Zhucheng City of Weifang City, Wulian County and Ju County of Rizhao City, Yishui County and Yinan County of Linyi City, connects to Linyi North Station of the Ri-Lan high-speed railway, then runs south through Lanling County and Tancheng County of Linyi City, enters Xinyi City of Xuzhou in Jiangsu Province, runs south through Suqian City, and connects to the reserved Yanghe North Line Station of the Xu-Su-Huai-Yan railway.

The operating length of the line is 400.05 km, and the newly built line length is 398.49 km, of which 324.94 km is within Shandong Province; the main line has bridges of 275.91 km/36 bridges and subgrade of 49.03 km/38 sections, with a bridge ratio of 85%.

The Weifang-Suqian high-speed railway has a total of 11 stations, namely: Weifang North (existing), Anqiu, Zhucheng West, Wulian North, Juxian Yishui, Yinan (reconstructed), Linyi North (reconstructed), Lanling, Tancheng West, Xinyi East, and Suqian East.

Among them, the mileage range of the Weifang-Rizhao section is DK0+000~DK158+050, with a main line mileage of approximately 158.2 km (bid sections 1-5); the mileage range of the Linyi section is DK158+050 to DK327+198.410 (from Juyi Station (inclusive) to the provincial boundary), with a main line mileage of approximately 166.7 km (bid sections 6-10).

The engineering quantities are: interval subgrade works; 1 main line extra-large bridge with a length of 27.0 km, 4 single-track extra-large bridges of 9.3 km; fabrication, transportation, and erection of 978 box girders at the Yujiacun girder yard; ballastless track construction (excluding slab fabrication and transportation, including unloading); including the Weifang-Suqian/Weifang-Laiwu and Weifang-Suqian/Ji-Qing connecting lines; four-electricity independent buildings, etc. Mileage/range: DK0+000~DK28+513/28.5 km.
