At the Dagang Port in Zhenjiang, Jiangsu, one side faces the rolling Yangtze River where giant vessels stream endlessly, while the other side is covered by over 20,000 square meters of photovoltaics, like a blue ocean.

On November 17, "Grid connection successful!" With a confirmation from the on-site duty operator and the power supply company's dispatcher, after three months of intensive work, the Zhenjiang Dagang photovoltaic project of the Nanjing Port new distributed photovoltaic power generation project, built by China Railway 14th Bureau Group, was successfully connected to the grid and began generating power. The gentle current of electricity flowed into the busy port and into the thousands of lights on both banks of the Yangtze River.

The Nanjing Port photovoltaic project has a total installed capacity of 8.9 megawatts, mainly comprising three photovoltaic power generation projects: the Zhenjiang Port project, the Xinshengwei project, and the Tianyu project. The Zhenjiang Port photovoltaic project connected to the grid this time covers an area of 23,000 square meters and is equipped with 6,708 photovoltaic modules. Once completed, it can generate 3.62 million kWh of clean electricity annually, saving over a thousand tons of standard coal.

To ensure construction progress, the project clarified the procedures for formulating, optimizing, and approving the photovoltaic power generation design and construction plan. During the installation of photovoltaic panels, the project's technical personnel invented a rooftop rail transport vehicle for transporting photovoltaic panels and other materials, more than doubling work efficiency. Grid connection was achieved smoothly in less than three months, earning high praise from the owner.

During construction, the project used China's advanced intelligent centralized control system for distributed photovoltaic power stations. It can not only analyze key operating indicators such as power generation efficiency and photovoltaic array current at any time through big data, but also precisely locate faulty equipment and abnormal photovoltaic arrays through remote operation and maintenance technology, achieving "unmanned duty with minimal staffing" and reducing later operation and management costs by 20%.

After the Zhenjiang Port photovoltaic project is connected to the grid, it can not only meet the port's own electricity needs but also feed surplus power into the public grid, realizing "self-generation for self-use, with surplus power fed to the grid." This generates sound social and economic benefits, helps Jiangsu Province's ports build modern first-class ports, and is of great significance for increasing the use of green electricity, reducing costs, and achieving energy conservation and emission reduction.
