Recently, State Grid Xinyuan Company Northeast Branch and China Railway 14th Bureau Group signed a contract for the underground powerhouse and water conveyance and power generation system project, part of the main works of the Liaoning Zhuanghe Pumped Storage Power Station.

It is understood that the Liaoning Zhuanghe Pumped Storage Power Station project is located in Guiyunhua Township and Buyunshan Township, Zhuanghe City, Dalian. It is the first pumped storage project in Liaoning Province to be approved and commence construction during the 14th Five-Year Plan period, with a total installed capacity of 1 million kilowatts and an annual power generation of 1.2 billion kilowatt-hours after completion. The station operates flexibly and can effectively coordinate with thermal and nuclear power units, improve system operating conditions, and reduce unit energy consumption. Each year it can reduce raw coal consumption by about 188,000 tons and carbon dioxide emissions by about 318,000 tons, delivering significant energy-saving and emission-reduction benefits. It will help accelerate the green transformation of the energy and power system and support the achievement of the carbon peaking and carbon neutrality goals.

After completion, the station will undertake tasks such as peak shaving, valley filling, frequency regulation, phase regulation, and emergency reserve for the Liaoning power grid, effectively alleviating capacity and peak-shaving demand in the Liaoning grid system and ensuring the safe, stable, and reliable operation of the grid. It will play a very important role in optimizing the energy structure, promoting the effective use of renewable energy, saving energy and reducing emissions, driving local economic development, and enhancing the city's image.
