On October 12, with the erection of the final steel box girder segment, the main bridge steel box girder of the Yellow River Grand Bridge of the Jinan Greater North Ring Project was successfully closed, laying a solid foundation for the upcoming cable saddle installation and main cable erection work, and the full appearance of the bridge is gradually coming into view for the public.

The Jinan Greater North Ring Project is an important component of the "Horizontal Second Branch Line" in the province's expressway network of "nine verticals, five horizontals, one ring, seven radials and multiple links." The project runs from east to west through Zhangqiu District and Jiyang District of Jinan City, and Linyi County and Yucheng City of Dezhou City, with a total length of 67.62 kilometers, a two-way six-lane design, and a design speed of 120 kilometers per hour. Upon completion, the project will greatly improve traffic conditions in northern Jinan and achieve interconnectivity with multiple expressways including the Beijing-Taipei Expressway, Beijing-Shanghai Expressway, Dongying-Lvliang Expressway, and Jinan-Gaoping Expressway.

Among them, the Yellow River Grand Bridge, a controlling project of the Jinan Greater North Ring Project, has a total length of 5,837 meters. The main bridge adopts a single-tower self-anchored suspension bridge design with a span combination of (50+350+350+50) meters, and the overall structural design scheme is the first of its kind in the world. The main bridge tower is 166.2 meters high. The bridge design fully considers bridge aesthetics and incorporates the elements of the lotus, the city flower of Jinan, forming a single-column tower that blooms like a lotus. At the same time, the towering tower column and the flexible main cable combine to form a unique landscape of one tower supporting two spans, lifting the 24,000-ton steel box girder over the Yellow River, with no supporting bridge columns set in the river channel, exerting no impact on navigation or flood discharge. Upon completion, the bridge will become the world's largest-span single-tower double-span self-anchored suspension bridge.

Up to now, the Yellow River Grand Bridge has completed the closure of the main bridge steel box girder, and the main tower has been poured to 151 meters, accounting for 91% completion. For the approach bridge section, the bridge crossing the embankment on the Jiyang side has been closed, and the bridge crossing the embankment on the Zhangqiu side is undergoing cantilever casting construction. The approach bridges inside and outside the embankment are undergoing girder erection and bridge deck system construction.
