On October 12, reporters learned from the Sichuan Provincial Department of Water Resources that the second phase of the Daqiao Reservoir Irrigation District Project, constructed by China Railway Construction Bridge Engineering Bureau Group, has recently reported a series of successes, with the Xiao'ao, Moyushan, and Ayuegou tunnels having been successfully holed through one after another. This marks phased progress in the project's construction and lays a solid foundation for the smooth water conveyance of the entire subsequent project.

During this year's Mid-Autumn and National Day holiday, construction of the entire second phase of the Daqiao Reservoir Irrigation District Project continued to accelerate. On the evening of October 2, the Xiao'ao Tunnel, located in Xiao'ao Village, Ruoshui Town, Mianning County, was successfully holed through. The tunnel has a total length of 1,972.5 meters, a cross-section with a bottom width of 2.1 meters and a straight wall height of 1.48 meters, and a maximum burial depth of about 85 meters; it was constructed by excavation from both ends.

On October 3, the Moyushan Tunnel, located in Younian Village, Youjun Town, Xichang City, was successfully holed through. The tunnel has a total length of 235 meters, a cross-section with a bottom width of 2.75 meters and a straight wall height of 1.85 meters, and a maximum burial depth of about 20 meters. The tunnel was excavated from a single end and was holed through 24 days ahead of schedule.

Also on October 3, the Ayuegou Tunnel, located in Ayue Village, Mali Town, Dechang County, was also holed through. The tunnel has a total length of 1,278 meters, a cross-section with a bottom width of 2.7 meters, a straight wall height of 1.93 meters, and a top arch radius of 1.69 meters, and a maximum burial depth of about 50 meters; it was excavated from a single end. According to the construction contractor, over the past year or more the project department has strictly followed the construction principles of advanced pipe forepoling, strict grouting, short advance per round, strong support, and frequent measurement, ensuring the smooth holing-through of the tunnels.

A person in charge from China Railway Construction Bridge Engineering Bureau Group Co., Ltd. introduced that the second phase of the Daqiao Reservoir Irrigation District Project is a long, large linear water conservancy project, characterized by a long construction alignment, small tunnel cross-sections, a large number of tunnels, scattered work sites, and high construction difficulty. During construction, the project teams successively overcame construction difficulties such as unfavorable geological conditions and high blasting risks, achieving steady progress in project construction.

It is reported that the second phase of the Sichuan Daqiao Reservoir Irrigation District Project is a key project in the "Anning River Basin Water Resources Allocation (Bundled) Project" plan, with a total investment of 2.92 billion yuan, a designed irrigation area of 458,500 mu, and about 177 kilometers of newly built main and branch canals. After full completion in 2025, it will provide irrigation water for 460,000 mu of farmland and solve the domestic water supply problem for one million people along the route in the three counties (cities) of Mianning, Xichang, and Dechang in Liangshan Prefecture.
