On the 14th, the first double-wall steel cofferdam for Pier No. 6 of the Quxi River Double-Track Extra-Large Bridge on the Chongqing-Wanzhou High-Speed Railway was successfully lowered into the water. This is also the first steel cofferdam successfully lowered for a deep-water foundation pit along the entire line, marking new progress for the project.
The Quxi River Double-Track Extra-Large Bridge is one of the eight key bridges along the entire Chongqing-Wanzhou Railway. The bridge has a total length of 953.14 meters. The main pier No. 6 under construction has a pier height of 93 meters and is designed with 15 bridge pile foundations. Located in the rapid-flow area of the Quxi River, it is the most critical in-water pier of the entire bridge and the one with the greatest construction organization difficulty.
The construction contractor, China Railway Construction Bridge Engineering Bureau Group, said that the double-wall steel cofferdam used this time weighs more than 1,100 tons, with a bottom-sealing thickness of 4.5 meters, a length of 28.2 meters, a width of 18.2 meters, a wall thickness of 2 meters, and a height of more than 31 meters, equivalent to about 12 stories. It is the tallest steel cofferdam along the entire Chongqing-Wanzhou Railway, and the construction difficulty is self-evident.
To ensure the smooth lowering of the steel cofferdam, the project department planned ahead and made scientific arrangements. It conducted training for project management personnel and on-site construction workers on multiple occasions and from multiple aspects, including technical plans, process flows, and safety management, and carried out technical briefings item by item according to the construction procedures, solidly completing various preparatory work and making every effort to guarantee construction.
It is understood that the main line of the Chongqing-Wanzhou High-Speed Railway is 250.91 kilometers long and is an important part of the Beijing-Kunming and Baotou (Yinchuan)-Haikou corridors of the national "Eight Vertical and Eight Horizontal" high-speed rail network. The project starts at Chongqing East Station and passes through Nan'an, Banan, Fuling, Fengdu, and Zhongxian in Chongqing before finally reaching Wanzhou. Once completed, the travel time from central Chongqing to Wanzhou will be shortened to within one hour.
