Recently, the reconstruction and expansion project of the Pucheng to Laoyu section of the Beijing-Kunming Expressway, in which the Third Company of China Railway 14th Bureau Group participated in construction, was successfully opened to traffic, and the expressway has entered the era of two-way eight lanes.

The reconstruction and expansion project of the Pucheng to Laoyu section of the Beijing-Kunming Expressway starts at the Dongyang hub interchange and ends at the Laoyu interchange, with a total length of 125.88 km. It adopts the technical standard of a two-way eight-lane expressway widened on both sides, with a design speed of 120 km/h.

The Third Company of China Railway 14th Bureau Group undertook the eighth bid section, with a total route length of 11 km, crossing 2 districts and 11 villages and towns, involving the demolition and reconstruction of 7 bridges over the main line, the widening of 2 bridges over local trunk roads, and the conversion of 1 underpass railway subgrade into a bridge, and featuring difficult land acquisition and relocation, a tight schedule, heavy pressure to maintain traffic, and high safety risks.

The builders innovated construction techniques, actively introduced new materials and new equipment, and promoted standardized construction. To improve the construction quality of precast girders, they adopted intelligent steel bar processing equipment, positioning formwork frames, high-efficiency release agents, automatic spray curing systems, intelligent tensioning and grouting and other equipment; at the same time, they used a synchronous girder and slab jacking system to replace bearings, the cut-joint pre-splitting method to chisel away local concrete of the flange plates, and steel fiber micro-expansive concrete to cast the wet joints, ensuring the splicing quality of new and old bridges. In terms of environmental protection, they introduced measures such as deep road surface sweepers, mobile spray devices, synchronous spray devices installed on excavators, dust nets covering bare soil, and online dust monitors in key construction areas, so that the site met the requirements of "six hundred percent and seven in place."

Opening site

The Pucheng to Laoyu section of the Beijing-Kunming Expressway is located in Shaanxi Province and is an important part of Shaanxi Province's "2367" expressway network. After the project is completed, it will greatly improve the national expressway network, enhance highway traffic capacity and service levels, ensure the rapid passage of national transportation corridors, and also accelerate the pace of building the Guanzhong Plain urban agglomeration and the Xi'an national central city.
