The long-distance nuclear heating pipeline project from Haiyang, Yantai to Rushan, Weihai is China's first cross-prefecture-level-city long-distance nuclear heating pipeline project, and is of great significance for promoting the coordinated development of the dual-carbon economy in the Yantai-Weihai region and the integrated development of the Jiaodong Economic Circle.

This section of the pipe jacking project is highly representative and is a model "long-distance, cross-regional" nuclear heating project. Not only is the rock hardness high, but the single-section jacking distance through high-hardness rock is also long, which increases the construction difficulty accordingly.

The XCMG XDN1800-R rock pipe jacking machine crosses Provincial Highway 202 and drives into the mountain. The entire jacking stratum consists of hard rock (granite) and a small amount of weakly weathered rock, with rock hardness of about 120–140 MPa. It jacked a single section of 210 meters, installing concrete pipes 1.8 meters in diameter and 2 meters long, and finally completed the breakthrough in 58 days.

The XCMG XDN1800-R rock pipe jacking machine adopts a composite rock cutterhead and is equipped with a secondary crushing function. When facing geological conditions such as weathered rock and hard rock, it can achieve a daily advance of up to 6 meters, with a maximum of 8 meters.

During the process, XCMG technical personnel provided timely construction recommendations. Ultimately, the XCMG pipe jacking machine delivered a result that satisfied the construction contractor in terms of construction efficiency and quality, contributing XCMG's strength to opening a new chapter of long-distance, cross-regional, and large-scale development of nuclear heating on the Jiaodong Peninsula.
