With the precise placement of the last box girder of the Shilongkeng No. 2 Grand Bridge, all 2,032 precast girders of the Guanfan Expressway project undertaken by China Railway First Group Co., Ltd. were safely erected by 17:00 on the 7th, achieving the smooth completion of the entire main bridge and laying a solid foundation for the full line's completion and opening to traffic.
The Guanfan Expressway is a key transportation construction project in Guangdong Province, the third horizontal line among Dongguan City's "one ring, six vertical and six horizontal" trunk lines, and an important east-west corridor in central Dongguan connecting Guangzhou and Huizhou. The project is built to a two-way six-lane expressway standard (with conditions reserved for eight lanes), with a design speed of 100 km/h and a total length of approximately 64.8 kilometers.
According to reports, the project is divided into three phases for construction. The first phase of 8.2 kilometers opened to traffic in April 2019, and the second phase of 38.1 kilometers was completed and opened to traffic on December 31, 2021. The third phase currently under construction, 18.18 kilometers, is the final section of the Guanfan Expressway project and is scheduled to open to traffic by the end of 2023.
A relevant person in charge from China Railway First Group stated that the 6th contract section of the Panyu Expressway from Qiaotou to Shatian undertaken by the company has a total route length of 4.316 kilometers, including 4 bridges (including the Liaobu Interchange mainline bridge), mainly consisting of steel box girders, precast concrete girders, and cantilever-cast box girders, 4 ramps at the Liaobu Interchange, and 2 slab culverts. Among them, the Shilongkeng No. 1 Bridge and Shilongkeng No. 2 Bridge are double-deck bridges, and the entire route passes through towns and crosses multiple major traffic arteries.
At present, the superstructure construction of the project has been basically completed, and efforts are concentrated on the critical stage of bridge deck ancillary works, accelerating progress toward the goal of the full line's opening to traffic within the year.
