On October 7, the first shield tunneling machine for Section 4 of Hefei Rail Transit Line 6, constructed by China Railway No. 4 Engineering Group, was successfully launched, marking that the shield tunneling section of the Longtang Depot Access Line has entered an accelerated phase. The left-line shield machine launched this time has entered the construction stage.

The shield tunneling section of the Longtang Depot Access Line passes beneath the Xin'ao Gas, Shenzhen Gas, and Sanshibu River Bridge after leaving the Longtang Depot Access Line, then proceeds along Heping Road and reaches Dongfeng Avenue Station for reception. The total length is 1071.498 m. The shield machine in this section mainly traverses silty clay, and this section is characterized by small-radius and large-gradient construction.

To ensure smooth shield tunneling, Section 4 of Hefei Rail Transit Line 6 organized multiple shield construction planning meetings. The Rail Supervision Station of the Municipal Urban and Rural Construction Bureau participated throughout the process, and industry experts were invited to conduct targeted selection of the shield machine, ensuring the smooth launch of the shield machine this time.

The civil construction Section 4 of Phase I of Hefei Rail Transit Line 6, constructed by China Railway No. 4 Engineering Group Co., Ltd., spans Yaohai District and Feidong County of Hefei. It was awarded to the consortium of China Railway No. 4 Engineering Group and Hefei Road & Bridge. The scope of the contract involves five metro stations—Dongfeng Avenue Station, Dazhong Road Station, Zhongyoufang Road Station, Zhangshan Road Station, and Longgang Road Station—as well as six shield tunneling sections. The total contract value is approximately 1.975 billion yuan, and according to the construction schedule requirements, it will open to traffic on December 31, 2025. It will initially form a rapid east-west corridor in the city, strengthen the connection between urban rail transit and railways, and at the same time meet the travel needs of Feidong residents, helping to drive urban development and renewal.
