Recently, the first foundation pilot activity for the Ningxia-Hunan ±800 kV ultra-high-voltage direct current (UHVDC) transmission project (Hunan section) was held in Changde, marking the official launch of the line's foundation works. The overall goal of the project is to implement standardized construction commencement and build a high-quality, premium power project that is "safe and reliable, independently innovative, economically rational, environmentally friendly, and world-class," ensuring successful one-time commissioning and long-term safe operation. To this end, the TYSIM KR110D power-construction drilling rig was selected for mechanized foundation construction, safeguarding the project's completion with guaranteed quality, quantity, safety, and stability.

The "Ningxia Power to Hunan" project has far-reaching impacts on both Ningxia and Hunan
"Ningxia Power to Hunan," namely the Ningxia–Hunan ±800 kV UHVDC transmission project, is China's first UHVDC project transmitting power from a desert/Gobi/barren-land base. It collects new-energy power from Ningxia and transmits it to the Hunan load center, with a rated voltage of ±800 kV and a transmission capacity of 8 million kilowatts. The project's construction will effectively enhance Hunan's power supply guarantee capacity, and is of great significance for promoting the development of new-energy resources in Ningxia, advancing clean and low-carbon energy transition, strengthening power supply guarantees, supporting the economic and social development of Ningxia and Hunan, and serving the carbon peak and carbon neutrality goals.

After thorough on-site surveying, the project selected leg A of tower N4882 for mechanized hole drilling with a power-construction drilling rig, leg B for finished-product display, leg C for rebar cage installation, and leg D for lock-collar wall protection. For mechanized foundation construction, the TYSIM KR110D power-construction drilling rig, one of the "Five Brothers" of power construction, was selected. Its main features include light host weight, strong climbing capability, ability to drill large pile diameters, high rock-penetration efficiency, and continuous operation in all-weather and all-climate environments, effectively reducing construction safety risks during foundation pit excavation.

Major power-construction projects invariably feature the "Five Brothers" of power construction
In the past, foundation construction for line towers in power grid development relied heavily on manual labor, and construction was extremely difficult and highly dangerous across various terrains such as inland mountainous areas and paddy fields. Because the industry lacked professional and efficient customized piling rig companies, the development goal of "fully mechanized construction" proposed by the State Grid Corporation of China eight years ago had never been realized.
To this end, through four years of effort, TYSIM visited various construction sites across more than ten provinces nationwide and successively developed and customized five machine models for State Grid, which State Grid calls the "Five Brothers of Power Construction." Projects that once had no available equipment and relied rigidly on manual teams taking a month to complete a single tower foundation were completed within three days once TYSIM equipment arrived. According to feedback from the project construction party, the "Five Brothers of Power Construction" offer high operating efficiency and are safe and reliable. Compared with traditional manual excavation methods, they not only greatly improve work efficiency and shorten the construction period, but also lower the construction risk level, reduce manual input, and safeguard personal safety.

TYSIM
At present, major power-construction projects across the country are still being advanced, and TYSIM has not stopped either. It will continue to expand application scenarios for mechanized excavation in high-mountain areas, develop modular power-construction drilling rigs, break through the bottleneck of mechanized foundation pit excavation in high-mountain terrain, and lay the foundation for the subsequent promotion of all-terrain mechanized construction.
