Good news recently came from the construction site of the Shenyang-Changbaishan high-speed railway: the Ajin and Xinbin tunnels have been successfully holed through one after another, marking another step closer to the full opening of the Shenyang-Baishan high-speed railway.

Xinbin Tunnel of the Shenyang-Baishan High-Speed Railway successfully holed through

On August 25, the Xinbin Tunnel of the Shenyang-Baishan High-Speed Railway was successfully holed through. The Xinbin Tunnel is located in Yongling Town, Xinbin County, Fushun City, Liaoning Province, with a total length of 10.2 kilometers. It is the first high-risk tunnel on the entire Shenyang-Baishan High-Speed Railway to be holed through, and is currently the longest tunnel in Liaoning. The Xinbin Tunnel lies in the residual ranges of the Changbai Mountains, where the terrain is highly undulating, groundwater is relatively abundant, and there are multiple faults and shallow cover sections, making the geological conditions complex and construction difficult.
During construction, the construction team adopted multiple innovative methods to achieve advance prediction, and used measurement methods such as 3D cross-section scanning to collect real-time data on changes in the rock strata around the tunnel. After the successful holing-through of the Xinbin Tunnel, construction of the Shenyang-Baishan High-Speed Railway will successively enter the full-line slab-laying operation stage.
Ajin Tunnel in the Liaoning Section of the Shenyang-Baishan High-Speed Railway successfully holed through

On August 18, the Ajin Tunnel in the Liaoning section of the Shenyang-Baishan High-Speed Railway was successfully holed through, creating conditions for subsequent girder erection and track-laying construction of the railway. The Ajin Tunnel is a single-tube double-track tunnel with a total length of 1,710 meters and a maximum burial depth of 56.5 meters. The tunnel has a complex geological structure and relatively shallow burial depth; Grade V surrounding rock accounts for 67% of the tunnel's total length, and it is the only tunnel on the entire line that passes over a water conveyance tunnel and under an expressway.
The Shenyang-Baishan High-Speed Railway is located in eastern Liaoning Province and southern Jilin Province in Northeast China. Its main line starts from Shenyang North Station, passes through seven cities (prefectures) including Shenyang, Fushun, Tonghua, Baishan, and the Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture, and ends at Changbaishan Station. The line has a total length of 430 kilometers and a designed speed of 350 kilometers per hour. It is an important component of the Northeast rapid railway corridor in the national medium- and long-term railway network plan, and is also the main passenger transport corridor in the eastern part of Northeast China.
After the Shenyang-Baishan High-Speed Railway is completed and opened to traffic, high-speed EMU trains will run directly to the foot of Changbai Mountain, a famous tourist destination in Northeast China. The shortest travel time from Beijing to Changbai Mountain will be reduced to less than 4 hours, and the shortest travel time from Shenyang to Changbai Mountain will be reduced to 1.5 hours.
