At 6:40 a.m. on August 8, a water seepage emergency occurred at the foundation pit on the north side of Xingye Road Station on Wuhan Metro Line 12, causing local ground subsidence (about 20 meters long and 10 meters wide) on Xingye Road (the section from Yihe West Road to Jianshe Avenue) in Jiang'an District.

Because the site is close to Building 2 of Area A of Haifu Jiangcheng Tianyun residential community, metro staff and community property management notified homeowners to evacuate immediately after the incident, and a cordon was set up at the scene. At around 11 p.m., under the arrangements and coordination of subdistrict and community staff, residents of the building were relocated to nearby hotels.

On August 8, the official Weibo account of Wuhan Metro issued a notice stating that an emergency plan was activated immediately at the scene after the incident, water was quickly stopped and counter-pressure was applied inside the pit, traffic management authorities were contacted to close the road, and utility pipeline owners shut off valves and sealed the sewage pipeline. The seepage point was plugged within one hour, and the emergency was brought under control.

After the incident, leaders of the Wuhan Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government gave instructions and written comments at the first opportunity. Departments including urban construction and emergency management, together with the metro group and relevant departments of Jiang'an District, rushed to the scene in a timely manner to organize emergency response work. At present, based on analysis of on-site monitoring data, the foundation pit and surrounding buildings (structures) are safe and stable.
