SPEAKER

Li Lianxiang
Professor of the Department of Civil Engineering at Shandong University and Director of the Research Center for Foundation Pit and Deep Foundation Engineering Technology. He is a council member of the Foundation Engineering Branch of the Architectural Society of China and a member of the Foundation Pit Engineering Professional Committee of the Building Construction Branch; a standing committee member of the Construction Technology and Equipment Professional Committee and a member of the Pile Foundation Academic Committee of the Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering Branch of the China Civil Engineering Society; President of the Shandong Deep Foundation and Underground Engineering Association; and Chairman of the Foundation Pit Engineering Professional Committee of the Shandong Civil and Architectural Society. With 24 years of engineering experience in investigation, design, construction, supervision, and development, and 13 years engaged in scientific research and teaching, he is grounded in foundation pit engineering and actively adapts to the requirements of new development concepts, clearly defining and building a high-quality development direction of "permanent support for deep foundation pits, full recovery of shallow foundation pit support, and scientific utilization of rock mass structures in foundation pits."
Report Title
Theory and Design Method for Soil-Rock Dual Foundation Pit Support
Report Content
Soil-rock dual foundation pits exist in large numbers and will become increasingly common as foundation pit depths increase. At present, China lacks theories and methods for the support design of soil-rock dual foundation pits, and engineering practices that treat "rock" as "soil" or assume rock mass structural planes urgently need improvement and upgrading. Rock masses are divided into two categories: stable and with inward-dipping slip planes. Under stable rock mass conditions, the overlying soil thickness, rock mass properties, and their interaction manifest as four failure modes with soil depth: circular arc, circular arc plane, cut angle, and sliding cut; under conditions of inward-dipping structural planes in the rock mass, the foundation pit failure mode is related to the dip angle, overlying soil thickness, and soil and rock mechanical parameters. Through precise investigation, on the basis of ensuring rock mass stability, soil-rock foundation pit support is simplified to the safety control of the upper soil mass.
