To solve the problems of traditional rectangular anti-slide piles, which require manual entry into the pile hole, have low construction efficiency and involve high safety risks, CRCC Heavy Industry, together with Sichuan Intelligent Construction Technology Co., Ltd. and Sichuan Yanjiang Expressway Co., Ltd., developed rectangular pile hole-forming equipment. It has now been successfully applied at the Jinyang site and the Huili site of the Sichuan Yanjiang Expressway (hereinafter referred to as Yanjiang Expressway).

As the main artery of economic development in Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture, the Yanjiang Expressway faces many difficulties across the entire project, including complex geology, fractured strata, high rock hardness, steep mountains and susceptibility to landslides. Many sections require extensive rectangular anti-slide pile construction. At the Jinyang site of Section 6 of the Jinning segment of the Yanjiang Expressway, CRCC Heavy Industry's rectangular pile hole-forming equipment successfully drilled and formed holes in strata with compressive strength above 110 MPa, achieving a construction efficiency of 0.1-0.6 meters per hour, 2-8 times that of traditional manual construction. It completely eliminates the need for workers to enter the pile hole, ensuring safe construction!

Efficient hole forming in soft rock strata at the Huili site

At the Huili site of Section 19 of the Ningpan segment of the Yanjiang Expressway, the on-site geology is soft rock with a strength of about 26-30 MPa. In this stratum, the rectangular pile hole-forming equipment achieved a hole-forming speed of 0.6-0.7 meters per hour, with construction efficiency 8-12 times that of traditional manual construction. Experts and leaders from the owner, design and construction units of the Yanjiang Expressway observed and exchanged views on site, and the equipment's rock-penetrating capability and hole-forming efficiency received unanimous praise from all leaders and experts.

CRCC Heavy Industry's rectangular pile hole-forming equipment achieves a maximum hole depth of 35 meters, a hole size of 3 meters × 2 meters (±3%), and a designed maximum rock-breaking hardness of 120 MPa. It adopts the Reuleaux triangle square hole-forming principle and is equipped with systems for gripper support and shock absorption, inclination measurement and deviation correction, drill bit cooling, cable bundle follow-up, and dust removal. Through modular combinations of different numbers of square-hole drill bits and different frame structures, it can form rectangular holes of various cross-sections. During construction, a rotary drilling rig is first used to drill a guide hole; after guide hole drilling, the rectangular pile mechanical hole-forming equipment is connected to form the rectangular hole; then a rotary drilling cleaning bit is connected for slag removal, forming a complete new construction method and new equipment set for mechanized rectangular pile construction.
