On March 26, CCTV's "Morning News" reported on the construction of the Chizhou Yangtze River Road-Rail Bridge, highlighting XCMG's large-tonnage rotary drilling rigs.

The Chizhou Yangtze River Road-Rail Bridge is a controlling project on the entire Hefei–Chizhou intercity railway, which is about to begin construction. Once completed and in operation, the bridge will become the sixth road-rail bridge across the Yangtze River in Anhui Province.

At a construction point in the Yangtze River's Chizhou section, about 380 meters from the south bank levee, an XCMG XR800HD large-tonnage rotary drilling rig rumbled to life, and the first main pier of the Chizhou Yangtze River Road-Rail Bridge successfully began drilling, marking the full-scale start of the bridge's main works.

It is reported that the drilling that began on March 24 was for the bridge's No. 4 main pier. Its foundation uses 77 bored cast-in-place piles with a diameter of 2.8 meters. The pile foundation is designed as friction piles, with slightly weathered silty mudstone as the bearing stratum. The designed pile length is 112 meters, and the designed concrete volume per pile is 689 cubic meters. The special geological and hydrological conditions and the construction characteristics of ultra-long and ultra-deep bored piles pose certain difficulties for pile foundation construction.

The XCMG rotary drilling rigs need to drill each pile foundation to a depth of 138.5 meters below the working platform surface, with each borehole taking about one week on average to complete, meeting project requirements with high standards and high efficiency.

Prior to this, XCMG large-tonnage rotary drilling rigs had already compiled a distinguished record in river-crossing projects in Anhui, having successfully participated in pile foundation work for super bridges such as the Ma'anshan Yangtze River Road-Rail Bridge and the Tongling Yangtze River Road-Rail Bridge. With advantages in forming piles with ultra-high torque, ultra-large diameter, and ultra-deep drilling, XCMG rotary drilling rigs drive pile foundations down to the riverbed, enabling the bridges to stand firm over the river for years to come.

The Chizhou Yangtze River Road-Rail Bridge has a south cable tower 274.5 meters high and a north cable tower 282.5 meters high, both elegantly shaped spatial diamond-type reinforced concrete bridge towers, earning it the reputation of a "bridge in the sky." XCMG large-tonnage rotary drilling rigs drill deep downward, laying a solid foundation and erecting pillars and beams for this "sky bridge," turning natural barriers into thoroughfares and supporting the high-quality development of the Yangtze River Delta economic belt!
