The reporter learned yesterday from the municipal transportation and highway department that after more than four hours of continuous pouring, at around 2 a.m. on January 6, the mid-span closure of the left carriageway of the Yiyang River Bridge in the Yangzhou Economic and Technological Development Zone section of National Highway 345 was successfully completed, laying a solid foundation for the completion of the road in the Yangzhou Economic and Technological Development Zone section before the end of August this year.

At 21:56 on January 5, the concrete pouring for the mid-span closure of the left carriageway of the Yiyang River Bridge in the Yangzhou Economic and Technological Development Zone section of National Highway 345 officially began. The nighttime temperature was close to zero degrees Celsius, but the bustling construction atmosphere on site was unmistakable. Several concrete mixer trucks continuously delivered concrete to the pump trucks. On the left-carriageway mid-span platform of the Yiyang River Bridge, the concrete pump truck, like a giant of steel framework, kept pouring concrete onto the platform deck, while more than 20 construction workers carried out operations in a tense, orderly, and race-against-time manner.

It is reported that the Yiyang River Bridge is located in Puxi Town, the Municipal Economic and Technological Development Zone. Its span length is 523.8 meters, and it is an important target node of the Yangzhou Economic and Technological Development Zone section of National Highway 345. The bridge is designed according to the standard of a two-way four-lane Class I highway, with a design speed of 100 kilometers per hour and a bridge deck width of 39-47 meters. The closure segment beam of the left carriageway's mid-span is 2 meters long, with a top slab width of 19.25 meters, a bottom slab width of 13.25 meters, and a beam height of 2 meters. The entire beam segment weighs 88.4 tons.

"To ensure the smooth and safe pouring of the mid-span closure segment, before the concrete pouring, the construction unit prepared a mid-span closure pouring plan and organized a preparatory meeting for the mid-span closure construction of the Yiyang River Bridge, giving briefings on equipment, management and construction personnel arrangements, site planning, pouring time, construction sequence, emergency measures for unexpected events, and other aspects," introduced a relevant staff member of the municipal transportation and highway department. During the pouring process, all participating parties, including construction, supervision, and construction units, monitored the entire process. Through the joint efforts of all units, the closure was successfully completed, laying favorable prerequisites for the completion of the Yangzhou Economic and Technological Development Zone section of National Highway 345 before the end of August this year.
