From Xinjiang to Shaanxi-Inner Mongolia and then to the Gansu-Qinghai-Ningxia region, Han Benbo of XCMG Foundation has fought in Northwest China for six years, growing from a service novice into a highly skilled service engineer. More than 2,000 days and nights have been steeped in his hard work and have also recorded his growth.

Responsibility on His Shoulders, Staying Committed Every Day

While stationed in Urumqi to support XCMG roadheaders for metro construction, Han Benbo once encountered a problem with an EBZ260. The area beneath the equipment was full of mud deep enough to cover tall boots. Without a word, Han Benbo picked up his tools and spare parts, crawled under the machine, and replaced the damaged components, ensuring the equipment resumed normal operation in time.

When Han Benbo was permanently stationed at a water diversion project site on the China-Kazakhstan border, one November an XCMG EBZ260 roadheader urgently needed replacement parts. At that time, the temperature in the Tacheng region of Xinjiang had reached minus 35 degrees Celsius. After picking up the parts, Han Benbo immediately drove to the site. When he was still some distance from the site, the snow was already knee-deep and the vehicle could no longer move.

Han Benbo took the parts and walked to the site, trudging with difficulty, one deep step and one shallow step. A journey that normally took five or six kilometers took him nearly three hours. When he arrived at the site, his hair, soaked with sweat, had frozen into ice.

Answering the Call in Crisis, Solving Problems for Others

In July 2020, Xinjiang was locked down due to the pandemic, and Han Benbo was on vacation at home at the time. A coal mine in Xinjiang called to report a fault, saying that an EBZ200A roadheader under construction could not start. At that time, other service personnel in the Xinjiang region were all under quarantine. After receiving the notice, Han Benbo went for a nucleic acid test without a word. The next day he boarded a flight to Kuqa. After landing, he was quarantined locally for five days and then reached the mine. After resolving the problem, he was forced to be confined at the mine for nearly two months.

Full-Process Tracking, Thinking What Customers Think

In 2021, XCMG Foundation's first horizontal-axis bolter-miner EJM280 was tested at a mine in Inner Mongolia. Han Benbo tracked the entire process from commissioning and installation to training and construction, and promptly fed back problems that arose during use to the business unit's technical personnel, playing an important role in subsequent product improvements. Sometimes, when encountering difficult problems, Han Benbo would hold the drawings and study them face to face underground, sometimes working for more than 30 hours at a stretch. To him, encountering a difficult problem was as exciting as digging for treasure, and he often forgot to eat and sleep until the problem was completely solved.

In February and March 2022, the Ningxia region had the highest concentration of XCMG bolter-miners. Based on customer requirements and problems existing in construction, the products needed to be rectified locally. Han Benbo led dealer service personnel to inspect and rectify the equipment one by one, making reasonable improvements to the products based on the principle of maximizing efficiency and performance. While safeguarding the interests of both customers and the company, his outstanding skills and meticulous attitude won repeated praise from customers.

Sometimes, when he came out from under the equipment, besides being covered in oil and dirt, his face was also "painted" in bold colors.
