Regardless of severe cold or scorching heat

The first to sense the changes of the four seasons and temperature

Are the commissioning workers at the XCMG Foundation commissioning ground

As the commissioning workstation leader, Chen Lei

Has led an iron team of commissioning workers with his skills and charisma

As the workstation leader and deputy section chief for XCMG rotary drilling rig commissioning, Chen Lei has devoted himself to rotary drilling rig commissioning for ten years as if it were a single day. In his pursuit of excellence, he has tackled one tough problem after another in rotary drilling rig commissioning, growing from an ordinary fitter into a technician, and through self-study he upgraded his education from junior college to an adult undergraduate degree. On the path of skill improvement, he interprets the idea that learning knows no bounds through ordinary, practical work.

Part 01

Volunteering for the task, forging solid skills in a harsh environment

Commissioning work is well known as a "bitter, dirty and tiring" post. Whether in severe cold or scorching heat, wind or rain, commissioning work must be carried out in the open air. In the freezing days of winter, when dripping water turns to ice, hands touching cold iron can peel off a layer of skin if one is not careful; in summer under the blazing sun, the ground temperature at the commissioning ground can reach fifty or sixty degrees, and even moving outdoors makes one sweat profusely.

In addition to the harsh environment, commissioning work requires an "all-rounder" who understands both hydraulics and electrics. Many people chose to "keep their distance," but Chen Lei volunteered and has worked at the commissioning post for ten years, one step at a time, one level at a time, growing from an ordinary commissioning worker into a highly skilled talent with comprehensive qualities.

In the depths of winter, for commissioning workers the night wind is the hardest to endure, yet vehicles often urgently need commissioning. Chen Lei leads the workstation employees to secure the ice-cold steel wire rope onto the main winch; even with gloves on, the cold of the steel wire rope is keenly felt. Chen Lei always arranges for others to rest in rotation first, while he participates every time, sometimes fighting through the night to make full preparations for the next day's dispatch.

When the sun rises in the east and the vehicles are smoothly stored and dispatched, who knows that such a group of lovely XCMG people have paid such hardship for this!

Part 02

Teaching and resolving doubts, strengthening the commissioning team through mentoring

Workmates at the workstation often joke that in summer Chen Lei looks every day as if he has walked out of water. When the heat is unbearable, Chen Lei often drinks two large cups of water in one go, his whole body soaked with sweat.

To take preventive measures, when leading workstation employees to rush progress in summer, he often carries Huoxiang Zhengqi liquid in his pocket and drinks a little when the heat becomes unbearable. When pressure regulation, electrical adjustment, rope threading and mast mounting all appear orderly, the white sweat stains seeping through their work uniforms powerfully explain these efforts.

In the eyes of his apprentice Xiao Li, his master Chen Lei is a well-deserved "expert" in rotary drilling rig commissioning, as if there is nothing he cannot do. During the intensive production period, commissioning manpower was scarce, and when new employees first joined, both commissioning quality and efficiency were not high. Chen Lei took the initiative to turn the key commissioning points into easy-to-understand courseware and train everyone. Under the guidance of "theory + practice," the new employees quickly caught up with the overall pace of the workstation, and the commissioning team for XCMG large-tonnage rotary drilling rigs continued to grow.

Part 03

Steady and pragmatic, becoming the designated choice for exhibition setup through accumulated experience

In October this year, just after the German Bauma exhibition ended, Chen Lei hurried back to Xuzhou and, without time to adjust to the time difference, threw himself into rotary drilling rig commissioning work. This was his third time participating in the setup work for the Bauma exhibition. Bauma is a grand event for construction machinery, and participating in the setup requires not only superb skills but also diligence and steadiness.

The first to arrive and the last to leave every day, he recorded the small details easily overlooked in exhibition setup and the new problems that arose in a notebook he carried with him. This work attitude was also noticed by the leading officials, so whenever there is Bauma exhibition setup, the first designated person is Chen Lei. He has won over all pile foundation workers with his steady, practical actions, and he has also become a good example for employees to learn from and a capable general trusted by leaders.

With the tenacity of a "one-track mind" and a spirit of dedication, he devotes himself to study and does a good job of passing on skills. Commissioning workers represented by Chen Lei are deeply rooted in the harsh open-air environment, ensuring commissioning quality and polishing the golden signboard of XCMG rotary drilling rigs.
