Recently, the winning projects of the 2022 Construction Machinery Industry Science and Technology Award were announced. The project "Key Technologies and Applications of Directional Drilling and Radiation Equipment for Large-Diameter Long-Distance Pipelines" submitted by XCMG Foundation stood out from more than 120 industry enterprises and universities across the country and won the second prize of the 2022 China Machinery Industry Science and Technology Award.

In response to the "bottleneck" construction challenges of large-diameter long-distance pipeline networks encountered in major national energy projects such as the West-East Gas Pipeline, the China-Russia Natural Gas Pipeline, and LNG receiving stations, the XCMG Foundation Engineering Machinery Division concentrated its efforts on key research. The project "Key Technologies and Applications of Complete Equipment for Crossing Construction of Large-Diameter Long-Distance Pipelines" solved the "bottleneck" problem of long-distance pipeline crossing and facilitated the successful construction of mega projects.

The project overcame three core technologies, including borehole stability in soft strata, established a complete construction process for large-diameter long-distance crossing, broke through the challenge of ultra-long-distance pipeline crossing, and reduced equipment operators by two-thirds.
Based on the research of this project, XCMG Foundation has successfully developed a series of products represented by the world's largest tonnage horizontal directional drilling rig, China's largest pipe pusher, and China's largest hydraulic-drive mud pump station. These products have been applied multiple times in national key projects such as the West-East Gas Pipeline, the China-Russia Natural Gas Pipeline, and the South-to-North Water Diversion Project, ensuring the smooth construction of mega projects such as underground pipeline networks and energy arteries.

Since its establishment, XCMG Foundation has actively applied for the China Machinery Industry Science and Technology Award every year. To date, it has won more than 30 awards in total, including first, second, and third prizes, helping the trenchless industry continue to improve and grow stronger!
