On November 18, the 4th National Forum on Innovation in Geotechnical Engineering Construction Technology and Equipment was grandly held at the Taodu Peninsula Hotel in Yixing, Wuxi. Dozens of units from across the country, including underground space foundation engineering construction enterprises, mechanical equipment manufacturing enterprises, survey and design institutes, scientific research institutes, and industry associations, attended the conference. Shanghai Engineering Machinery Factory Co., Ltd., as one of the co-organizers of the conference, participated deeply in the event.

As one of the highly authoritative thematic academic forums in the industry, this forum was jointly hosted by the Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering Branch of the China Civil Engineering Society and the Jiangsu Society for Rock Mechanics and Engineering. The forum adopted a combination of offline and online formats, with an offline main venue in Yixing and online sub-venues in seven locations including Shanghai, Shenzhen, Tianjin, Wuhan, Zhengzhou, Kunming, and Ningbo, with the entire proceedings broadcast live.

Against the backdrop of the current social and economic development model accelerating toward digitalization and green, low-carbon development, and under the new national strategy of "carbon peaking and carbon neutrality" in which low-carbon emission reduction in urban and rural construction is key, the forum explored how to further promote the development of geotechnical engineering technology and equipment toward green, low-carbon, digital, and intelligent directions, achieve energy conservation and emission reduction with low environmental impact, and serve the needs of urban renewal. Participating construction units and mechanical equipment manufacturing enterprises exchanged views on new geotechnical construction technologies, new technologies such as informatized monitoring, new equipment, new methods, major projects, and difficult issues under the new situation of construction industry transformation and development, aiming to jointly promote the innovation and development of China's geotechnical engineering construction technology and equipment!

As one of the co-organizers of the conference, Gong Xiugang, General Manager of Shanghai Engineering Machinery Factory Co., Ltd., attended the forum opening ceremony as a specially invited guest and was invited to chair the academic reports in the second half of the session.

At the meeting, Wang Hanbao, Assistant to the General Manager of Shanghai Engineering Machinery Factory Co., Ltd., was invited to attend the conference and delivered a special report titled "Research, Development and Application of Informatized Construction Control Technology for Underground Engineering Equipment." The report mainly focused on the latest achievements and applications of Shangong Machinery in realizing visualization of equipment control technology information in underground engineering construction. It highlighted the research, development, and application of informatized construction control technology for eight series of Shangong Machinery equipment, namely: SMW method and equipment, static drill rooted pile method and equipment, TRD method and equipment, DCM method and equipment, MFP260-I micro-disturbance four-axis mixing pile drilling rig equipment, MJS method and equipment, CSM method and equipment, and HJ6000 rectangular reinforcement cage mesh welding robot equipment. The report provided in-depth analysis from aspects including overviews of equipment and methods, difficulties and measures in construction quality control of the methods, and research, development, and application engineering cases of informatized construction control technology for method equipment. It demonstrated from different perspectives the latest project achievements, engineering application technologies, and core construction advantages of Shangong Machinery in informatized construction control technology for these eight series of underground engineering equipment, receiving unanimous praise from attending experts.

It is worth mentioning that the 5th National Forum on Innovation in Geotechnical Engineering Construction Technology and Equipment in 2024, held every two years, will be hosted by Shanghai Engineering Machinery Factory Co., Ltd. In this regard, Shangong Machinery General Manager Gong Xiugang expressed great anticipation and elaborated four ideas for the fifth forum:

First: General Manager Gong stated that, as Academician Gong said, the development of geotechnical engineering construction technology currently faces a bottleneck in professional construction equipment. Before 2016, Shangong Machinery had two major methods: the hammer piling method and the SMW method, both led by Shangong and popular throughout the country. Since 2016, Shangong Machinery's professional construction equipment has developed rapidly, including TRD series method rig equipment, SDP series static drill rooted method drilling rig equipment, CRD series full-casing drilling rig equipment, digital micro-disturbance four-axis mixing pile drilling rig equipment, MJS method equipment, DCM treatment system equipment, GCP gravel pile equipment, and more. The development of these equipment items precisely meets the needs of domestic professional construction technology development. Therefore, as Shangong Machinery represents the construction equipment manufacturing industry in hosting the National Forum on Innovation in Geotechnical Engineering Construction Technology and Equipment for the first time, everyone will certainly be interested and have expectations.

Second: The 5th National Forum on Innovation in Geotechnical Engineering Construction Technology and Equipment will be held in Shanghai. Shanghai brings together the East China Architectural Design & Research Institute, Urban Construction Design Institute, Geological Survey Institute, Tongji University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and others. Shanghai and surrounding cities possess leading domestic construction equipment manufacturing enterprises, and new equipment and new technologies are prioritized for application in various projects in Shanghai. I believe that hosting the fifth forum by a construction equipment manufacturing enterprise with a century-long history will certainly be a success.

Third: We will host a distinctive forum on innovation in geotechnical engineering construction technology and equipment. We will leverage resources from various associations in Shanghai: the Professional Construction Committee, the China Construction Machinery Piling Association, the Shanghai Pile Planting Research and Development Association, the Digital Micro-Disturbance Research Association, as well as the 2024 Shanghai Bauma Exhibition. We will continuously attract more piling enterprises to join the Professional Construction Committee, and I believe the fifth forum will be even more outstanding.

Fourth: We have tentatively scheduled the forum for November 20, 2024, with registration on the first day, special reports at the conference on the 21st, a visit to the Shanghai Bauma Exhibition on the 22nd, and in-depth participation by experts in technical exchange meetings of various enterprises on the 23rd. We look forward to meeting everyone in Shanghai in 2024 at the 5th National Forum on Innovation in Geotechnical Engineering Construction Technology and Equipment.
