On November 9, the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development issued a notice on the announcement of pilot cities for intelligent construction, deciding to designate 24 cities including Beijing as pilot cities for intelligent construction. The pilot program starts from the date of announcement and lasts for three years.

Previously, the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development issued the Notice on Soliciting and Selecting Pilot Cities for Intelligent Construction, soliciting and selecting some cities to carry out intelligent construction pilots, promoting the transformation of the construction industry toward digital design, intelligent construction, construction robots and other aspects, and fostering a batch of new industries, new business forms and new models by building intelligent construction industry clusters.

The Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development stated that the focus of this pilot program is to build intelligent construction industrial bases, improve the industrial chain, cultivate a batch of engineering general contracting enterprises with the capability to provide intelligent construction system solutions as well as supporting enterprises in construction, survey and design, equipment manufacturing, information technology and other fields, develop new industries such as digital design, intelligent production, intelligent construction, smart operation and maintenance, construction robots, and the construction industry internet, and build intelligent construction industry clusters.
