3,247 meters long, 674 days of construction, one and a half months ahead of schedule... On the morning of May 15, the right tube of the Xizengshan Tunnel, a controlling project of the Dongyang (Jiangbei to Nanshi) section of the Yidong Expressway, was successfully holed through. This also means the project has moved one step closer to the goal of achieving full-line breakthrough by the end of the year.

The Xizengshan Tunnel ends at Ximatang Natural Village, Hengcheng Village, Nanshi Subdistrict; once open to traffic, the tunnel will have six lanes in both directions. It is worth noting that the left tube of the Xizengshan Tunnel is expected to be holed through by the end of June. As of now, the Dongyang (Jiangbei to Nanshi) section of the Yidong Expressway has completed a cumulative investment of 2.827 billion yuan.
