香丽高速公路虎跳峡“地下互通项目”打破“立交走地上，隧道走地下”道路工程常规，让立交走地下，成为全国高速公路建设首例。
虎跳峡地下互通连接线位于香丽高速公路丽江至迪庆段，全长6.197km，海拔从约1800米急剧上升至近3200米路段，是香丽高速公路连续35公里桥隧比最集中的路段，桥隧比高达98%，山高、谷深、地震烈度高，且穿越金沙江虎跳峡、玉龙雪山保护区范围，工程难度极大，水环保要求高。
据香丽高速项目公司工作人员介绍，虽然国内外陆续建成并投入运营的市政工程地下互通式立交已有很多，但在岩体破碎、构造侵蚀严重、线路纵坡较大、高桥隧比的路段建设高速公路地下互通与长隧道相连的工程，在国内外尚属首次。
