According to relevant departments in Shantou, the public notice period for the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs' list of 15 pilot fishing port economic zones supported by the 2021 central financial subsidy funds ended on the 1st of this month, meaning the Shantou Nan'ao National-Level Coastal Fishing Port Economic Zone Construction Project has officially been launched. The project will receive a total of 400 million yuan in financial support from central and provincial governments.

The Nan'ao National-Level Coastal Fishing Port Economic Zone covers the entire Nan'ao County. With an overall layout of "one island, two rings, three zones," it coordinates spatial planning, gathers factor resources, stimulates new market vitality, and cultivates new development momentum. It aims to build a modern fishery economic zone integrating fishing boat shelter and supply, seafood trading, cold-chain logistics, leisure sightseeing, and urban construction, featuring balanced regional industrial structure, a relatively high industrial level, and obvious radiation effects, with integrated "port-industry-city" development and integrated "fishery-trade-tourism" development, providing strong support for implementing the rural revitalization strategy.

It is reported that the project plans to invest a total of 1.284 billion yuan in the near term. Construction content includes the Yun'ao Fishing Port Comprehensive Industrial Zone, the Houjiang Fishing Port and Wupingzhai Fishing Port Industrial Zone, the Fishermen Transfer and Reemployment Research and Training Base, and the improvement of fishing village appearance and quality. At present, key projects such as the Houjiang Modern (Class II) Project in Nan'ao County, the Nan'ao County Cold-Chain Logistics Center Base, the facade and appearance quality improvement projects for villages along the southern ring road, and the reclamation project for the Nan'ao County Fishermen Transfer and Reemployment Research and Training Base have already started construction, with nearly 884 million yuan invested.
