Recently, inside the Kulutage Tunnel on the Southern Xinjiang Railway in Xinjiang, the successful completion of three consecutive 180-minute construction "windows" marked the completion of the overhead contact system wire replacement work in the Kulutage Tunnel.

It is understood that this construction was also the first time the Korla Power Supply Section of China Railway Urumqi Group Co., Ltd. independently organized and implemented full-anchor-section wire replacement in a long tunnel, accumulating experience for future tunnel overhead contact system wire replacement construction and laying a solid foundation for winter transportation safety.

The Kulutage Tunnel is located between Turpan and Korla on the Southern Xinjiang Railway, with a total length of 3,132 meters. The Korla Power Supply Section regards the rectification of equipment hazards as the key to ensuring transportation safety. In response to the safety hazards identified during inspections, it organized professional and technical personnel to conduct on-site surveys multiple times, repeatedly demonstrated and formulated a wire replacement construction work plan, anticipated various emergencies during construction, and meticulously formulated an emergency response plan.

In organizing the construction, more than 80 business backbone personnel were concentrated and dispatched, and 6 overhead contact system operation vehicles were deployed. They were divided into 11 work groups, including traffic protection, grounding and hanging wires, wire deployment, and anchoring of new wires, with the task sections and workload of each group clearly defined. Safety risk prevention was strengthened, work processes and craft standards were clarified, and responsibility for each task was assigned to specific individuals, ensuring that construction work proceeded in an orderly manner.

This full-anchor-section wire replacement construction in the tunnel involved a large workload, many participating personnel and machines, and complicated procedures. It not only rectified and eliminated hidden dangers in power supply equipment, but also trained the team.

In this overhead contact system wire replacement construction in the Kulutage Tunnel on the Southern Xinjiang Railway, 1,671 meters of wire were replaced at one time, 228 droppers were swapped, and 14 electrical connections were replaced. The completion of this wire replacement construction completely eliminated the hidden dangers in the downline overhead contact system equipment of the Kulutage Tunnel, improved the reliability of power supply safety, and provided a strong guarantee for the safe and smooth operation of the Southern Xinjiang Railway.
