Recently, the mined tunnel between Daping West Station and the terminus of the Chongqing Metro Line 18 North Extension Project officially began tunneling, marking the entry of the first main line mined tunnel section of the project into the substantive construction phase.

The north extension of Metro Line 18 starts in the east at Xiaoshizi Station in Yuzhong District and runs west to Fuhua Road Station, passing through Huguang Guild Hall, Kaixuan Road, Shibati, Qixinggang, Caiyuanba Railway Hub, Huangshaxi, Times Tianjie and other locations, with a total length of 10.61 kilometers and 8 underground stations.

The section from Daping West Station to the terminus under construction this time has a total length of 1,102.834 meters. Because the construction site is adjacent to the first phase of the under-construction Metro Line 18, Vanke buildings, the Chengdu-Chongqing passenger dedicated line tunnel and others, the site faces many difficulties such as limited space and heavy traffic pressure. In response, the contractor reasonably arranged the construction sequence and optimized the construction organization plan, laying the foundation for the smooth start of tunnel excavation.

At present, construction of the Line 18 North Extension is progressing steadily, and 8 of the 10 civil engineering work sites have entered the substantive construction phase.
