Despite the cold winter days, construction at Nanyanghu Street Station is still in full swing.

According to reports, two shield machines are planned to be used simultaneously for excavation in the section between the two stations. Currently, the shield machine on the left line has been mobilized and started, and next month, the shield machine on the right line will also be mobilized and launched.

Currently, according to the plan, this approximately 700-meter-long tunnel section is expected to achieve breakthrough around the Spring Festival. In addition, after completing the shield construction in this section, the shield machine will move to other sections to continue the underground tunnel excavation task.

Building warm sheds for concrete construction

Winter construction is a major challenge for northern cities.

According to reports, at the construction site of Section 7, the main method used is the warm shed construction method with soft shed panels and fuel oil heaters, which is quite advanced in China. Inside the warm shed, the temperature is sufficient to meet the insulation requirements for concrete and ensure the construction quality of concrete, overcoming the environmental restrictions of winter.

It is worth noting that in addition to the winter construction challenges, the construction unit also previously overcame the problem of the station foundation pit being affected by the aquiclude, with the entire excavation process accompanied by water-retaining strata. By actively allocating various resources, the shield launching schedule was strictly ensured.

Striving for main structure capping on December 10

The section from Qiandaohu Street Station to Nanyanghu Street Station in Section 7 of Shenyang Metro Line 3 is the first bidding section of Line 3, and now it has also taken the lead in entering the shield tunneling construction stage. Not only that, the first base of Nanyanghu Street Station successfully passed acceptance on July 9 this year, making this section the first in the entire Shenyang Metro Line 3 to complete foundation pit verification.

Currently, the main structure of Nanyanghu Street Station has fully entered the accelerated construction stage, striving to cap the main structure on December 10.

On the metro project notice board at the construction site, it can be seen that the construction period for Section 7 of Line 3 is from December 30, 2019, to December 30, 2024. This is consistent with the opening time of Line 3 mentioned in previous reports.

Shenyang's first 'Air Metro'

According to previous reports, Metro Line 3 is Shenyang's first 'Air Metro' (click to view previous reports). It is located south of Line 1 and almost parallel to Line 1. The eastern part runs through the old urban area of Wenhua Road, and the western part has 15 kilometers of elevated track and 9 elevated stations, connecting to BMW New Town.
