To commemorate the significant contributions made by Mr. Li Siguang, a renowned Chinese scientist, educator, social activist, and outstanding geologist, to China's scientific and geological endeavors, to vigorously promote the scientist spirit rooted in patriotism, to carry forward his profound devotion to the country and strong sense of social responsibility, to inspire geological science and technology workers to pursue truth, devote themselves to research, develop expertise, specialize in their fields, dare to surpass, and scale new heights, to strive to be creators of major scientific research achievements, contributors to building a strong nation in science and technology, practitioners of noble ideological character, and leaders of sound social conduct, to promote the innovative development of geological science in the new era, to shoulder the important mission entrusted by the times, and to make new and greater contributions to accelerating the building of a strong nation in science and technology and achieving high-level scientific and technological self-reliance and self-strengthening.

In accordance with the provisions of the Charter of the Li Siguang Geological Science Award, and following the final evaluation at the third meeting of the ninth committee of the Li Siguang Geological Science Award, it has been decided to confer the Li Siguang Geological Science Award on 15 individuals including Wang Cheng, and to issue certificates, medals, and prize money.
