Recently, the Shenzhen Municipal Development and Reform Commission released the progress of major projects in Shenzhen from January to August 2021. It is reported that from January to August 2021, 371 major municipal construction projects completed a cumulative investment of 165.57 billion yuan, fulfilling 78.5% of the annual investment plan. It is worth noting that from January to July, the 371 major municipal construction projects completed a cumulative investment of 144.2 billion yuan, fulfilling 68.4% of the annual investment plan. The completion progress data shows that investment in major municipal construction projects showed a trend of acceleration in August.

Major projects are divided into major construction projects and major preliminary projects, among which major construction projects include continued projects and new projects. Major construction projects are listed with annual planned investment, while major preliminary projects are not listed with annual planned investment because they are still carrying out various preliminary preparations. It is understood that in 2021, Shenzhen arranged a total of 536 major projects. Among them, there are 371 major construction projects (including new and continued projects), with an annual planned investment of 210.91 billion yuan, and 165 major preliminary projects.

Shenzhen's major projects are divided by industry category into 8 major categories: strategic emerging industries, modern service industries, advanced manufacturing and advantageous traditional industries, urban renewal, rail transit, roads, airports and ports, social livelihood, and urban safety and environment. Each major category also has sub-sectors.
