On the 13th, reporters learned that the general contracting project for survey and design of Phase III of Dongguan Urban Rail Transit Line 2 (Humenzhan Railway Station (excluded) to Jiaoyiwan Station) is currently open for public bidding, with the deadline for submission of bids set for October 8, 2021.

Reporters learned that the survey and design general contracting (including preliminary works) tendered this time covers overall general contracting management; survey work includes preliminary survey, detailed survey, supplementary survey and special survey; design work covers the full stages of overall design, preliminary design and revised preliminary design (including budget estimate preparation), construction drawing design (including construction drawing budget and BIM design), coordination for construction (equipment) tendering, and coordination for construction, acceptance and handover. This means that the start of construction of Phase III of Dongguan Rail Line 2 is already in the countdown stage.

The project announcement shows that Phase III of Dongguan Rail Line 2 starts at Humenzhan Railway Station, the terminus of Phases I and II, and leads out from Humenzhan Railway Station, extending southeast along Guantai Road, successively crossing over the Guangzhou-Shenzhen Intercity Railway and passing under the Humen Port Branch Line before entering Humen Liansheng Road and laying southward. In the announcement, the eight metro stations widely followed by Dongguan citizens are also described more clearly: Humen North Station is set at the intersection of Liansheng Road and the planned road; Humen Dadao Station is set on the west side of Humen Park; Humen Jinjie Road Station is set on the west side of the Jinjie Road intersection; Humen Guangming Road Station is set on the south side of the Guangming Road intersection. After leaving the station, the line runs south, bypassing Xitou New Village, passing under the Yanjiang Expressway Humen Interchange and then entering the Binhai New Area. Binhaiwan Station is set at the planned Shenzhen-Maoming High-Speed Railway Binhaiwan Station for transfer with the Shenzhen-Maoming High-Speed Railway. After leaving the station, the line runs along the planned green belt, and Hong Kong and Macao Pier Station is set on the south side of the Binhai Avenue intersection near the Hong Kong and Macao Pier. After leaving the station, the line diagonally crosses the Modie River and continues along Binhai Avenue. Jiaoyiwan West Station is set on the west side of the intersection of the planned Binhai Avenue and Xinghai Road, and the terminus Jiaoyiwan Station is set at the Haixin Avenue intersection, with transfers to Phase I of Dongguan Line 3 and the planned Shenzhen Line 20.

The announcement shows that the Phase III project has a total length of about 17.3 km. Except for the southern section of Humenzhan Railway Station, which is partly elevated, the rest of the line is underground; the total underground section is about 16.848 km, the elevated section about 0.25 km, and the transition section about 0.202 km. The line has 8 stations in total, all underground, including 4 transfer stations, with an average station spacing of 2.18 km, a maximum station spacing of 3.343 km and a minimum station spacing of 1.087 km. A Binhaiwan parking lot is set south of the Yanjiang Expressway, north of Xin'an Middle Road and northeast of Binhaiwan Station; one main substation is set northeast of the Humen Toll Station of the Yanjiang Expressway, adjacent to the existing urban substation; the control center will use the network control center already built for Phases I and II of Line 2. For metro rolling stock, urban Type B cars will be used, with a maximum design speed of 120 km/h.
