The Fengxian District Information Office announced that superstructure construction has officially begun on the new S3 project (from Zhoudeng Highway to the G1503 Highway Lianggang Avenue Interchange). Currently, nearly 37% of the substructure in the S3 Fengxian section has been completed, with 38 columns, 32 bent caps, and 4 small box girder precast components lifted and installed between Nanfeng Highway and Hangtanggang. As a 27.5-meter-long, 161.8-ton box girder was steadily lowered onto piers PR856#-PR857# of the main elevated line of the Shanghai S3 Highway Project Section 5, it marked an important milestone in the project's girder erection construction and the official start of superstructure construction.

Currently, in the S3 Fengxian section, nearly 37% of the substructure has been completed, with 38 columns, 32 bent caps, and 4 small box girder precast components lifted and installed between Nanfeng Highway and Hangtanggang.

The new S3 project (from Zhoudeng Highway to the G1503 Highway Lianggang Avenue Interchange) is an important part of Shanghai's expressway network and coastal major corridor, a structural backbone road in the southeast of the "One Ring, Twelve Rays" layout, and a key connection channel from the central urban area to Pudong New Area, the Lingang Special Area of the Pilot Free Trade Zone, Fengxian New City, and the Hangzhou Bay North Shore Economic Belt.

The project starts in the north at Zhoudeng Highway, connecting seamlessly with the earlier implemented section of the S3 Highway that has already opened to traffic. It runs south through Zhoupu Town, Hangtou Town, and Xinchang Town in Pudong New Area, as well as Jinhui Town and Fengcheng Town in Fengxian District, and ends in the south at the G1503-Lianggang Avenue Interchange, linking with the Lianggang Avenue expressway upgrade project under construction. The route length within the project scope is approximately 26.6 km, and it is scheduled to open to traffic by the end of December 2022.
