At 6:30 on August 4, after an 8.5-hour battle involving a thousand workers, the realignment construction of the main line of the Wuhan-Jiujiang Passenger-Dedicated Line at Lushan Station on the Anqing-Jiujiang High-Speed Railway was successfully completed, creating important conditions for the Anqing-Jiujiang High-Speed Railway to carry out joint commissioning and testing and to open for operation on schedule.

The Anqing-Jiujiang High-Speed Railway starts from Anqing West Station in Anhui in the north and ends at Lushan Station in Jiujiang, Jiangxi in the south, with a main line length of 198 kilometers. It is an important component of the Beijing-Hong Kong High-Speed Railway. Lushan Station is an interchange hub where four railway lines meet: the Anqing-Jiujiang High-Speed Railway, the Wuhan-Jiujiang Passenger-Dedicated Line, the Nanchang-Jiujiang Intercity Railway, and the Beijing-Kowloon Railway. To meet the needs of the Anqing-Jiujiang High-Speed Railway construction and the long-term development of Jiujiang City, starting in September 2020, the railway authorities carried out a large-scale expansion and renovation of Lushan Station. The station building area was expanded from the original 4,000 square meters to nearly 60,000 square meters, and the station yard scale was expanded to 8 platforms and 25 tracks.

At 22:00 on August 3, the area beside Lushan Station was brightly lit. After the line was closed, the realignment construction of the main line of the Wuhan-Jiujiang Passenger-Dedicated Line at Lushan Station on the Anqing-Jiujiang High-Speed Railway officially began. Nearly a thousand construction workers and dozens of pieces of operating machinery quickly entered the construction site and simultaneously carried out rail cutting, track shifting, rail welding, and other operations at six connection points at the north and south ends of Platforms 4, 5, and 6 of Lushan Station, realigning the main line of the Wuhan-Jiujiang Passenger-Dedicated Line, which had previously been temporarily relocated for the construction of the Anqing-Jiujiang High-Speed Railway, back to its original position.

At the construction site, machines roared and sparks flew as all operations proceeded intensely and orderly according to plan. According to Ma Shuisheng, Director of the Engineering Management Department of the Nanchang-Jiujiang Intercity Railway Company, this track connection construction was a Class II line blockade construction integrating permanent way, signaling, communications, and power supply. This kind of "large corps, multi-branch" coordinated operation involves long construction hours and great difficulty, and all work content must be completed within the specified time to minimize the impact of construction on railway transportation. According to plan, the railway authorities will conduct special acceptance and safety assessments of the renovated line.

The successful completion of this line blockade construction marks that the station building and station yard of Lushan Station on the Anqing-Jiujiang Railway have basically taken shape, laying a good foundation for the Anqing-Jiujiang Railway to open on schedule. After the Anqing-Jiujiang High-Speed Railway and the Ganzhou-Shenzhen High-Speed Railway are completed and opened to traffic, Jiangxi Province will form a "cross-shaped" high-speed railway network consisting of the Shanghai-Kunming and Beijing-Hong Kong high-speed railways. The fastest travel time from Nanchang via Jiujiang to Hefei will be within 2.5 hours, and high-speed trains from Hefei to Shenzhen will no longer need to detour, with travel time shortened by about 2 hours compared with the present.
