The reporter has learned that after careful study by the Ji'an Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government and extensive solicitation of opinions from all sectors of society, a decision has been made to launch the Jinggangshan Bridge reconstruction project. The project has completed its planning and design, and the design plans for the Jinggangshan Bridge reconstruction project and the Yanjiang Road widening and upgrading project were publicly displayed from August 3 to September 1, 2021.
According to the plan, the traffic organization design adopts an at-grade intersection on the west bank and a simple partial interchange with directional ramps on the east bank. West bank: the main line intersects at grade with Yanjiang Road; pedestrian and non-motorized traffic intersects at grade with Yanjiang Road along the main line, with signal light control, and channelization improvements will be carried out on Yanjiang Road and Daqiao West Road within the intersection area. East bank: the main line crosses over Binjiang Avenue, with a pair of ramps connecting at grade to Binjiang Avenue, and an additional pair of directional right-turn ramps west of Binjiang Avenue. Based on comprehensive consideration of inheriting the old bridge's style, water blockage rate, and river landscape effects, the design recommends uniformly adopting a large-span bridge form for the mid-river section. In terms of navigability, the waterway class will be upgraded from Class III-3 to Class II-3: for one-way navigation openings, apart from differences in clear width and bottom width, the other clearance dimensions remain the same. The positions of the bridgehead towers will be optimized, and the new bridgehead towers will follow the shape of the original ones to create inherited landmark structures; bridge deck accessories (red-tasseled streetlights and railings) will be upgraded. In addition, Yanjiang Road will also be widened and upgraded.
According to information previously released by the Ji'an Municipal Transport Bureau, the Jinggangshan Bridge was completed on May 1, 1970 and has been in service for more than 50 years. With economic and social development and the rapid growth of traffic volume, it has become difficult for the bridge to meet the needs of urban development and transportation. In line with urban development and overall planning requirements, the Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government decided to demolish and rebuild the Jinggangshan Bridge on its original site. Preliminary project work will be carried out in 2021-2022; in 2022, after the Ganjiang Highway Bridge is completed and opened to traffic, the old Jinggangshan Bridge will be demolished and rebuilt on the original site.
