On the afternoon of July 27, as the cutterhead rotated, the right-line shield machine for the Longcheng West–Digital City section of Shenzhen Metro Line 16 successfully broke through. With this, the section has achieved twin-tube breakthrough.

The Longcheng West–Digital City section was constructed using the shield method. The right-line drive is about 1,153 m long and lies in the karst-developed area of Longgang, where local water inflow is relatively high, making construction difficult and risky.

The maximum gradient of the section is 29‰, and the strata crossed are complex, with karst caves occurring in some locations. The karst area is extensive and deep, with strongly or extremely strongly developed karstic limestone and developed bedrock fissure water, posing great risks to the station and shield construction and making water and mud inrush highly likely.
