According to the Zhuhai Emergency Management Bureau, at 9:25 on July 25, a box girder collapse accident occurred at the right-side 165-166 pier side-span girder of the Zhuhai Jinhai Bridge construction section of the Zhuji Intercity Railway in Sanzao Town, Jinwan District, Zhuhai, causing 5 construction workers to fall into the sea and go missing. As of 17:41, rescuers found 2 people who had fallen into the water inside the underwater box girder at the accident site and confirmed they had died. Rescue work is still being carried out in an intense and orderly manner.

After the accident occurred, the main leaders of the Zhuhai Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government rushed to the scene immediately to organize rescue efforts. The Guangdong Provincial Emergency Management Department, Provincial Department of Transport, and Provincial State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission immediately organized forces to rush to the accident site to guide rescue work, and quickly dispatched professional technical personnel and large machinery and equipment from surrounding cities to participate in the search and rescue work.
