Guangzhou Road, as a major east-west corridor in Nanchang, is currently a dead-end road, impassable to the east and impassable to the west. However, with the development and construction of the East Station New Area, Guangzhou Road serves as the core main road of the area, and its east extension is currently progressing steadily and is expected to be completed in 2022; when the west extension can be launched is also attracting much attention.

On July 21, 2021, the Nanchang Municipal Natural Resources Bureau publicized the "Detailed Road Traffic Plan for the Xianghu Tunnel East Extension Project," confirming the construction method for the road.

Project planning layout plan

It is understood that the Xianghu Tunnel East Extension Project is located in the middle section of Jiuzhou Avenue-Guangzhou Road and is the key section connecting the Xianghu Tunnel and crossing the Beijing-Kowloon Railway. This plan starts at the east exit of the Xianghu Tunnel in the west and ends at Xiqiao East Road in the east. The planned road width is 50-72 meters, with a total length of about 2.5 km, positioned as an urban main road.

The ground-level sections of the west section and the east section adopt dual-carriageway six-lane main roads, with dual-carriageway four-lane auxiliary roads; the ground-level section of the east section is planned as dual-carriageway six lanes.
