On July 24, the left tube of the Kalu Moqi Tunnel on the S10 Zhuohe Expressway was successfully holed through, marking the completion of excavation for the first long tunnel of the Zhuohe Expressway project.

Gou Jiangwen: As one of the control works of the Zhuohe Expressway, the Kalu Moqi Tunnel has a total length of 3,950 meters, of which the left tube is 2,195 meters long. Since construction began in November 2019, all participating units have fought hard for more than 620 days and nights, ultimately achieving the milestone victory of the left tube breaking through first with high standards and high quality.

The Kalu Moqi Tunnel is located in Gensha Village, Wanmao Town, Zhuoni County, at an average altitude of 3,190 meters. The tunnel site lies in the cold and humid region of Gannan, and the surrounding rock is mainly Grade IV and V. During tunnel construction, water inflow, collapse, rockfall and significant sudden changes in surrounding rock occurred repeatedly, and the surrounding rock was extremely unstable. Since the start of the project, all construction personnel have overcome many unfavorable factors such as high altitude, tight schedule, heavy tasks and complex geological conditions, and have ensured the smooth breakthrough of the tunnel through forward command, scientific organization and refined construction.

Faced with the plateau climate and various difficulties, all project personnel have persevered. In response to repeated water inflow, collapse, rockfall and significant sudden changes in surrounding rock during tunnel construction, timely measures were taken to effectively ensure tunnel construction safety, demonstrating with practical actions the sense of responsibility of road and bridge builders.
