On July 21, the cold sliding test of the main line overhead catenary of the west extension Shunde section of Guangzhou Rail Transit Line 7 Phase I project (hereinafter referred to as the Guangzhou Metro Line 7 West Extension Shunde Section) was successfully completed, marking that the main line overhead catenary of the Guangzhou Metro Line 7 West Extension Shunde Section has met the conditions for power supply and laying a solid foundation for the upcoming live overhead catenary hot sliding test.

The overhead catenary cold sliding test is a dynamic test inspection of the quality status of the overhead catenary when it is not energized, that is, through the contact between the pantograph and the contact wire, the running-in status of the pantograph-catenary and the dynamic envelope are detected, especially the running-in status of the pantograph in sections such as anchor joints, turnouts, and sectional insulation transitions, and whether the installation and commissioning performance of the overhead catenary system equipment meets the design requirements is checked, so as to identify quality hazards and defects for timely rectification and ensure the safe and reliable power reception of electric passenger trains.

To ensure the smooth progress of this cold sliding test, the participating construction parties attached great importance to it and vigorously organized manpower and material resources for project tackling; other relevant units closely collaborated and fully cooperated, and through formulating a detailed cold sliding plan and holding special meetings for discussion, the cold sliding work proceeded in an orderly manner.

The successful completion of this cold sliding test laid the preliminary foundation for the next step of comprehensive power supply, hot sliding, and joint commissioning and testing of the overhead catenary.
