"Passengers, please hold the handrails. The train is departing." Inside the spacious and comfortable carriage, Phase I of Wuhu Rail Transit Line 1 is undergoing on-line testing. As early as June this year, Wuhu Rail Transit Line 1 successfully passed project acceptance and met the conditions for trial operation. Wuhu Rail Transit Line 1 aims to open for trial operation by the end of September this year, and Line 2 is planned to open for initial operation before the end of this year.

In the midst of the scorching summer heat, the rail transit builders are working overtime to complete the "final touches" on projects such as the station overpasses, entrances and exits, and elevators. "We have added construction personnel to complete as many construction tasks as possible within the same amount of time," said Wang Yulin, deputy general manager and chief engineer of Yunda Company. He noted that all builders have overcome numerous difficulties, including high temperatures and severe heat, adverse weather, and the impact of the pandemic, and that the project's construction milestones are progressing smoothly. At present, Line 1 has entered the stage of full-line trial operation and simulated timetable running.

"To ensure the safety of initial operation, rail transit must undergo at least three months of trial operation," Wang Yulin said. In addition to rail transit construction, there are currently overlapping works by other units, such as road maintenance, sewage pipe network renovation, urban construction pipeline relocation, and landscaping improvements, which objectively cause difficulties for residents' travel and commuting. As the project progresses faster, this situation will gradually ease.
