In the first half of this year, key tasks in the New Shougang area advanced smoothly, with investment in key projects achieving "more than half of the time elapsed and more than half of the tasks completed," and new progress and results were made in transformational development. Just now, a reporter from Beijing Youth Daily-Beijing Headline learned from the Beijing Municipal Development and Reform Commission that construction of Olympic-related projects in the New Shougang area is basically ready, and the individual structures related to the Shougang Big Air are undergoing completion acceptance; the western section of Rail Transit Line 11 (the Winter Olympics branch line) is laying track along the entire line and is planned to open by the end of the year; the Winter Olympic Park has completed more than 80 percent of its total engineering volume and is expected to come online before the National Day holiday, and the most highlight-worthy 42-kilometer marathon route is basically complete.

According to the introduction, in the first half of this year, five projects newly started construction, including the public space upgrading project on the left bank of the Yongding River, Beijing Shiyi School Shijingshan School, and the Urban Weaving Innovation Workshop (Central District). The 35 continued construction projects accelerated implementation, among which six projects, including Mayu Riverside Forest Park, the Shijingshan Water Plant, and the Shoute Green Energy Port Science and Technology Center, are basically complete. The main structures of the new outpatient, emergency, and medical technology building of Peking University Shougang Hospital and the Shougang Ertong shared-property housing project have been topped out; the Shougang Industrial Heritage Park (Jin'anqiao Station transportation integration and industrial heritage restoration) and the Winter Olympics Plaza (Wuyi Theater and flour mill renovation) projects are 90 percent complete, and Huayuan Joy City is undergoing exterior decoration.

Data show that New Shougang projects have completed a cumulative fixed asset investment of about 11.46 billion yuan and construction and installation investment of about 5.58 billion yuan, completing 63.6 percent and 79 percent of the annual targets respectively, both ahead of schedule. At the same time, new momentum for industrial development is being cultivated at an accelerated pace, and 78 enterprises have registered or moved into the New Shougang area. In the first half of this year, the New Shougang area hosted 43 events, including the launch ceremony of Olympic China Tour, the launch ceremony of Beijing Consumption Season, and the sci-fi sub-venue of Beijing Science and Technology Week, and the area's vitality and influence have continued to increase.

In September this year, Shougang Park will appear for the first time as one of the venues of the China International Fair for Trade in Services. It is reported that all 15 exhibition halls in Shougang Park have completed the installation of main structures and roof and wall panels and are expected to be completed by the end of July. In addition, 12 enterprises, including Yiwan Xingchen and Chumingtang, have newly been introduced to the northern district of Shougang, with newly signed area of 22,000 square meters. Up to now, 78 enterprises have registered or moved into the northern district of Shougang, and Shougang Group has carried out autonomous driving demonstration application cooperation with 11 enterprises, including BAIC and Baidu.

At the end of 2018, Beijing issued the Action Plan for Accelerating the Development and Construction of the New Shougang High-End Industrial Comprehensive Service Area and Building a New Landmark of Capital Urban Revival in the New Era (2019-2021), bringing new opportunities for leapfrog development to the New Shougang area. "This year is the final year of the three-year action plan for New Shougang. In the second half of the year, relevant departments will firmly seize the historic opportunities of preparing for the Winter Olympics and hosting the China International Fair for Trade in Services, focus on cultivating new momentum, stimulate new vitality, and strive to achieve, by the end of the three-year action plan at the end of this year, a comprehensive improvement in the environmental appearance and regional carrying capacity of the New Shougang area, phased results in building a new landmark of urban revival, and the creation of a "golden名片" for the capital's urban revival."
