Recently, the client of London's Thames Tideway project announced that the deepest shaft on the project has successfully completed its base slab pour. At the end of June, after 18 hours of continuous work and the pouring of approximately 780 m³ of concrete, the King Edward Memorial Park working shaft in Wapping, London, was successfully sealed at the bottom.

Earlier this year, on the UK's Thames Tideway project, the last TBM for main tunnel excavation, "Selina", was officially launched, beginning excavation of 5.5 km of the 25 km long deep drainage tunnel in the eastern section of the project. This is also the last section of the entire deep drainage main tunnel project to be completed.
The Thames Tideway tunnel project began construction in 2016 and was originally scheduled for completion in 2023, with full operation in 2024. Due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the opening date has now been postponed to 2025. Once completed, the main tunnel will have an internal diameter of 7.2 m, running from 30 m below ground in west London to 70 m below ground in the east, with a total length of more than 30 km. It will intercept the 34 most polluted combined sewer overflows through the tunnel, conveying the collected sewage to the Beckton sewage treatment works for treatment before discharge into the Thames.
