This energy-saving insulating coating, named "Sun Tree," goes on the walls at home as only a thin layer. While giving the home a beautiful decorative finish, it does not reduce indoor space; instead, it can raise the indoor temperature and save energy expenses such as electricity, coal and gas.

"This is China's first successfully developed energy-saving insulating interior wall coating," said the person in charge of the assessment and promotion division of the Science and Technology Development Promotion Center of the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development. He explained that this insulation material is based on the principle of interior wall reflective insulation and is made from new raw materials including nanocomposites. After the finished coating is applied to the interior wall surface, the coating has a relatively high reflectivity for indoor mid- and far-infrared waves; at the same time, the hollow microspheres in the coating provide a certain thermal barrier effect, which can reduce heat loss and thereby raise the indoor temperature. This energy-saving insulating coating can significantly reduce energy consumption and expenses for winter heating in the north, and is very green and environmentally friendly. "This product has passed the scientific and technological achievement assessment of our center," the person in charge said.

It is reported that energy-saving insulating interior wall coating is a new topic in the field of building energy efficiency in the world today. To develop this product, Hainan Hongshan Science and Innovation Co., a local high-tech enterprise in Hainan, invested heavily and successively cooperated with a number of research institutions, including the China Academy of Building Research and the China Building Materials Academy, hired several domestic experts in building energy-saving coatings to form an R&D team, and established a building energy-saving R&D center. After more than two years of repeated research and testing, the experts finally succeeded in developing this new product, which is the first of its kind in China, and a total of 15 invention patents were applied for.
