The reporter learned from the Regional Department of Transport that the 2021 mid-year regional highway scheduling meeting was held recently. It was introduced at the meeting that in the first half of this year, highway construction across the region completed a cumulative investment of 78.741 billion yuan; 12 highways totaling 648 kilometers, including the Baise City North-South Bypass Highway, started construction; the Liuzhou via Heshan to Nanning and Du'an to Bama expressways completed main construction and opened for trial operation on July 1. The completed investment in highway construction and the number of projects under construction across the region reached new highs.

On the same day, the person in charge of the Guilin to Qinzhou Port Highway (Nanning Liujing to Binyang Section) project (hereinafter referred to as the Liubin Expressway) spoke at the meeting about the project's construction experience. The Liubin Expressway is the first expressway project in Nanning built and operated under the BOT model. The project connects with the Liujing to Qinzhou Port Expressway and the Liuzhou via Heshan to Nanning Expressway, jointly forming the expressway transport network for the Beibu Gulf ports. The project has a total investment of 7.56 billion yuan and a total construction length of 44.6 kilometers. The main line is built to a four-lane expressway standard, with a design speed of 120 km/h and a subgrade width of 26.5 m. It is expected to be completed and opened to traffic in August 2022. After completion, the drive from Binyang to Nanning will be shortened from one and a half hours to one hour. In 2021, the annual fixed investment task for the Liubin Expressway project is 1.5 billion yuan; as of now, output value of approximately 1.38 billion yuan has been completed, a completion rate of 91.82%.

It is reported that in the second half of the year, the region will newly start construction on 21 expressways totaling 1,674 kilometers, including the Guilin to Qinzhou Port Highway (Yongfu Sanhuang to Liuzhou Section) and the Baise Bama Airport Expressway; continue construction on 57 expressways totaling 4,381 kilometers, including Xindu to Wuzhou and Nandan to Tian'e; complete and open 4 expressways totaling 200 kilometers, including Shajing to Wuxu, Wuxu Airport to Long'an, Guilin to Liucheng, and the first phase of the Mengshan to Xiangzhou Expressway; and continue to accelerate the construction of urban access roads for expressways in 15 counties including Huanjiang, Tiandeng, and Jinxiu.
