At 10 a.m. on the 12th, the New Dadingshan Tunnel of the Fuzhou-Xiamen High-Speed Railway was successfully holed through. With this, all main line tunnels of the Fuzhou-Xiamen High-Speed Railway have been completed, providing a solid guarantee for the opening of the entire line.

The Fuzhou-Xiamen High-Speed Railway is China's first cross-sea high-speed railway designed for a speed of 350 kilometers per hour. The New Dadingshan Tunnel is located within Qingkou Town, Minhou County and Yingqian Town, Changle District. The tunnel has a total length of 4,054 meters and a maximum burial depth of 187.5 meters. It is a double-track high-speed railway tunnel designed for a train speed of 350 kilometers per hour.

The New Dadingshan Tunnel is located in complex geological conditions, passing through multiple faults and densely jointed zones. Rock of Grade IV and above accounts for more than 24 percent of the total, and the poor conditions for construction access created considerable difficulties for construction. The construction and building units used nearly 20 information-based methods, including surrounding rock monitoring and measurement, settlement observation, and advanced geological forecasting, and combined them with smooth blasting technology. This greatly reduced disturbance to the surrounding rock and faults and ensured construction safety and project quality.

The Fuzhou-Xiamen High-Speed Railway is an important part of the coastal corridor in China's "Eight Vertical and Eight Horizontal" high-speed railway network. It starts in Fuzhou in the north, passes through Putian and Quanzhou, and ends in Xiamen and Zhangzhou in the south, with a total length of 277.42 kilometers. It is planned to be ready for opening and operation in 2023. After the railway is completed and opened to traffic, the railway travel time from Fuzhou to Xiamen will be shortened to one hour.
