On July 11, through the day-and-night efforts of all construction personnel, good news kept coming from the northern section of Rail Transit Line 5: the main structures of Wangjiang East Road Station and Funan Road Station were successfully capped. They are the 11th and 12th stations to be capped in the northern section of Line 5.

Wangjiang East Road Station is located at the intersection of Wangjiang East Road and Susong Road and is a transfer station between Lines 5 and 6. The station is surrounded by numerous old factory buildings and old residential communities, with a large demolition area. In addition, the geological conditions at the station base are complex, and there are many types and large quantities of various pipelines nearby, making construction difficult and safety risks high. It is one of the key and difficult projects in the northern section of Line 5.

Funan Road Station is located at the intersection of Mengcheng Road and Funan Road and is arranged north-south along Mengcheng Road, with a total of 4 entrances and exits and 2 groups of ventilation pavilions. The station has a narrow construction site and heavy surrounding traffic flow, and the foundation pit rock stratum is hard, with limited working space under the cover slab.

Hefei Rail Group led the participating units to adopt the semi-covered excavation construction method, setting up temporary trestle slabs along the western half of the station in the longitudinal direction to provide conditions for social vehicle traffic and effectively ease traffic diversion pressure. At the same time, a breaker was used to remove high-strength hard rock. During excavation, monitoring of the foundation pit and surrounding buildings and structures was carried out no less than twice a day, and dedicated personnel were assigned to patrol the surrounding area, ensuring the station main structure capping milestone target was achieved on schedule.

To steadily advance the progress of ongoing construction sites, the Municipal Rail Group strictly complied with all requirements for epidemic prevention and control and flood prevention and control, fully implemented the safety production policy of "safety first, prevention foremost, comprehensive management," and required management personnel to be on duty 24 hours a day to ensure the smooth and orderly progress of project construction.
