On the 12th, the Xindadingshan Tunnel of the new Fuzhou-Xiamen Railway, constructed by China Railway Major Bridge Engineering Group, was successfully holed through, marking the full completion of all main-line tunnels of the Fuzhou-Xiamen high-speed railway and providing strong assurance for the line's scheduled opening.

The Fuzhou-Xiamen high-speed railway is China's first cross-sea high-speed railway designed for a speed of 350 km/h. The Xindadingshan Tunnel is located in Qingkou Town, Minhou County, and Yingqian Town, Changle District, Fuzhou City. The tunnel is 4,054 meters long with a maximum burial depth of 187.5 meters, and is a double-track high-speed railway tunnel designed for a train speed of 350 km/h.

According to reports, the Xindadingshan Tunnel passes through complex geological conditions, crossing multiple faults and densely jointed zones, with rock of Grade IV and above accounting for more than 24% of the total. In addition, the site access conditions were poor, causing considerable difficulties for construction. The construction and building units applied nearly 20 information-based methods and combined them with smooth blasting technology, greatly reducing disturbance to the surrounding rock and faults and ensuring construction safety and project quality.

The Fuzhou-Xiamen high-speed railway is an important part of the coastal corridor in China's "Eight Vertical and Eight Horizontal" high-speed railway network. It starts in the north at Fuzhou, passes through Putian and Quanzhou, and extends south to Xiamen and Zhangzhou, with a total length of 277.42 kilometers. It is planned to be ready for opening and operation in 2023. Once the railway is completed and opened to traffic, the rail travel time from Fuzhou to Xiamen will be shortened to one hour, and Xiamen, Zhangzhou, and Quanzhou will form a half-hour transportation circle in southern Fujian's "Golden Triangle," which is of great significance for promoting the rapid development of the urban agglomeration along the southeastern coast.
