In the Party's century-long journey, there have been many meetings that bore on the future and destiny of the Party and the revolutionary cause. The August 7 Meeting, as a meeting of great historical turning point, pointed out a new way forward for the Communist Party of China, which was then in ideological confusion and organizational disarray, and holds an important place in our Party's history. In this session of Party history study, the Third Party Branch of the R&D and Business System Region will lead everyone into the Memorial Hall of the Site of the August 7 Meeting in Wuhan to review the historic transformation of the Chinese revolution from the failure of the Great Revolution to the rise of the Agrarian Revolutionary War.

Historical Exhibition of the August 7 Meeting

In 1927, Chiang Kai-shek and Wang Jingwei successively betrayed the revolution, and large numbers of Communists and revolutionary masses were massacred. The First Revolutionary Civil War failed, and the Chinese revolution was at an extremely critical juncture. With the help of the Communist International, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China convened an emergency meeting in Hankou on August 7, namely the August 7 Meeting.

The meeting summarized the experience and lessons of the failure of the Great Revolution, resolutely corrected and ended Chen Duxiu's Right capitulationist error, elected a Provisional Political Bureau of the Central Committee headed by Qu Qiubai, Li Weihan and Su Zhaozheng, determined the general policy of the Party in the new period to be agrarian revolution and armed resistance against the Kuomintang reactionary rule's massacre policy, and decided to launch the peasant autumn harvest uprisings in Hunan, Hubei, Jiangxi and Guangdong as the Party's most important task at that time. It was at this meeting that Mao Zedong put forward the famous idea that "political power grows out of the barrel of a gun."

The August 7 Meeting was an important turning point in the Party's history. When the Chinese revolution was in severe crisis, the timely convening of the August 7 Meeting and the formulation of correct policies for continuing the revolutionary struggle prevented the whole Party from being thrown into panic by the extremely severe White Terror, restored the courage to struggle against the Kuomintang reactionaries, and thus made a great contribution to saving the Party and the revolution.

To review the road of struggle in the past and revisit this important period of history, in June 2021 the Third Party Branch of the R&D and Business System Region went to the Memorial Hall of the Site of the August 7 Meeting for Party history study and education. In the exhibition hall of the August 7 Meeting, the secretary of the Third Party Branch of the R&D and Business System Region led everyone to visit the basic exhibition and the restored exhibition of the site of the August 7 Meeting, carefully listened to the stories behind the precious historical relics in the hall, and reviewed the oath of joining the Party, deeply comprehending the self-revolutionary spirit of the proletarian party in the August 7 Meeting and appreciating the importance, in the new era, of continuously innovating the marketing capabilities for high-end underground engineering equipment.

Reviewing the Party's extraordinary journey and reflecting on the stories of the revolutionary forebears who carried out self-revolution and stayed true to their original aspiration in times of peril, as members of a central state-owned enterprise, we are filled with the conviction that we should strive even harder. On April 29, 2021, the double-shield tunnel boring machine "Wudang" rolled off the production line smoothly at CRCHI, with a tunneling distance of up to 15 kilometers. Two more machines will subsequently participate in the construction of the water resource allocation project in the central urban area of Shiyan, Hubei. By then, it will greatly improve the water use conditions and water ecological environment of the people of Shiyan, and is a major livelihood project benefiting the city of Shiyan.
