On July 6, a reporter learned from Sichuan Yanjiang Panning Expressway Co., Ltd. that all 5 civil engineering sections within Panzhihua of the Ningnan-Panzhihua section (Yanjiang Expressway) of the G4216 line have commenced full construction.

As of June this year, actual investment completed within Panzhihua reached 132.09 million yuan, with cumulative investment this year totaling 444.96 million yuan, accounting for 44.5% of the annual plan. Among these, for the controlling project Vanadium-Titanium High-tech Zone Bridge, a total of 242 pile foundations, 17 pile caps, 3 pier columns, and 3 bent caps have been completed; for the controlling project Huoshan Tunnel (within Panzhihua), excavation at the exit end has reached 1,209 meters.

It is understood that the G4216 line (Yanjiang Expressway) is divided into three sections: Yibin Pingshan Xinshi to Liangshan Jinyang, Liangshan Jinyang to Liangshan Ningnan, and Liangshan Ningnan to Panzhihua.

Among them, the Liangshan Ningnan to Panzhihua section starts at Heini Gou on the side of Ningnan County seat in Liangshan Prefecture, connecting with the Jinyang-Ningnan section of the G4216 line, passing through Xinhua Township and Shili Township in Ningnan County, Huidong County seat, Jiangzhou Town, Xiaoba Township, Huili County seat, Luchang Town, Baiji Township, and Hongge Town in Yanbian County, Panzhihua, and ends at the Vanadium-Titanium High-tech Zone in Panzhihua City, connecting with the Panzhihua-Lijiang section of the G4216 line. The designed total length is 166.167 km, with 11 connecting lines including Yanbian totaling 47.509 km to be built simultaneously. The main line has 11 interchanges and 1 hub interchange at Jinjiang.

After the project is completed and opened to traffic, it will add a new major westward corridor out of Sichuan, becoming a major thoroughfare from Chengdu to the Panxi Economic Zone, connecting to South Asia and linking rivers to the sea. It is of important strategic significance for achieving economic coordination and regional cooperation among the five provinces and seven parties in Southwest China, and even for promoting the development of the "Belt and Road" Initiative in South Asia and Southeast Asia.
